Recollection of German crimes

During the German occupation we lived through tough times. Our town was visited by a punitive expedition. Germans were killing whole families, burning houses and throwing little children to the fires. They were doing it in all of the villages. At night cars with military policemen came to catch people, abuse them and take [them] to the camps. Sometimes they rounded them up during the day and took them to the front [line], so that the prisoners could mine those areas. And the planes were flying above them and shooting [at them]. A lot of people were killed there. Sometimes, they brought people near the forest or to the marketplace and shot them. There are a lot of graves in those fields, there are birch crosses standing on them. In our cemetery there are also a few large graves. Friends from Sienno and unknown people, who were killed by Germans, lie there.
