My most memorable moment from the occupation

It was during the winter. The Germans were stationed in the village. One night, they gathered together and surrounded the village. Suddenly, at one end of the village, they started capturing healthy men. People hid wherever they could. Moving in a group, the Germans searched everywhere. If they found a young man at home, they told him to take a shovel and escorted him to the school. Guards were walking around the school, keeping watch over the men. The Germans went from house to house, detaining people, and once they had searched the entire village and found all the healthy young men, they lined them up in fours and marched them to the town of Szydłowiec. The Germans, armed with rifles, surrounded the captured men. Only a few men were later released from Szydłowiec, while the rest were taken to Germany. Some returned only after the Germans had lost the war, but others perished and never came back.
