Memories of German crimes
From the time of the German occupation, I remember how the Germans treated people during the mass seizure of cattle. It was still dark when the village was surrounded. As soon as people woke up, they were not allowed to leave their homes. When the Germans were driving the cows away, women and children ran after them, pleading [for their livestock to be returned]. But it was all in vain. The soldiers tormented them and beat them. The cows were bellowing terribly, and the sound was so sorrowful that people cried, thinking that even though the cows could not speak, their cries seemed to be bidding farewell to their owners.
