My most memorable moment from the occupation
The most memorable moment for me is when the Germans took people to [dig] trenches. I remember when on 13 August 1944, in the morning, the Germans took my daddy to Kadłubek to see an officer. I did not know that they took daddy because I was still asleep. Mommy woke me up and told me what happened. She said that the Germans told daddy to take an axe, a shovel, a bowl, a spoon, and a blanket for his clothes. I got dressed quickly and we went to Kadłubek [to intercede] for my daddy. I cried [and asked] them to let my daddy go. A German came and ordered us to go home. Other people were deported for [digging] trenches near the Vistula River.
