My most memorable moment from the occupation

When the Germans came to us in the morning and asked if Jan Kulik lived here, dad told them that he was in the clover field. As they entered, they [?] put the rifle in the thatch. When they looked for him and couldn’t find him, they were saying that he had a rifle. When they couldn’t find him, they told us to stand next to the cattle shed, loaded the rifle and were about to shoot at us. They said also that they were going to burn the house, and if my brother jumped out of the fire, they would take us to Słupia and kill us. My younger brother told them where [Janek could be found], because he was really worried about him. My brother went out from the hole and they took him and dad to Słupia. They released dad and they took my brother to Ostrowiec. They took him away to Germany. They took from our house everything that was there. Cattle, pigs, prettier [belongings?] and even grain.
