Memories of German crimes

I would not like to live through another war like the last one. In 1940, the Germans took my daddy to Germany, where he worked hard as a laborer. My younger siblings and I were going through a very hard time. Then the Germans took our two uncles to Auschwitz, from where they never returned. I saw the atrocities of the Germans who abused Poles and Jews terribly.

When daddy came back from Germany emaciated and sick, he was forced to work in a German office in Sosnowiec. I remember well that my parents trembled. They were afraid that they would be included in the German [People’s] List despite their Polish surname, because they were constantly harassed. We experienced a lot of unpleasantness and hunger. The Germans are the greatest barbarians in the world.
