Kielce, 7 November 1948, 12.00 p.m. Marian Poniewierka from the Citizens’ Militia Station in Kielce, with the participation of court reporter Edward Pękalski, interviewed the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 140 of the Penal Code, the witness testified as follows:

In January 1944, I saw with my own eyes how five men were brought in [by the Germans]. They had their hands and legs tied-up with twine. The twine had cut into their hands which were bleeding. Towards the evening, at about 5.00 p.m. they were all executed by the fence at the Water and Sewage Works in Kielce, but I don’t know the surnames of the people who were executed by the gendarmes.
Only when the Red Army troops entered, at the beginning of April 1945 were the bodies of the executed uncovered. I heard that one was identified as Józef Niedziela, resident of Kielce, and that another man was also recognizable, but I don’t know his surname. Three men were unrecognizable as their bodies had been mutilated and were in a state of complete decomposition.
