Sunday, November 24 1946. A functionary Antoni Kalarus from the Citizen’s Militia Station in Nowa-Słupia, Kielce district, interviewed the person named below as witness who, having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Art. 140 of the Penal Code, testified as follows:

I, Feliks Kozłowski, give testimony regarding the German persecution of the Polish population in the years 1942–1943.
Germane gendarmes were lodged in the tourist hostel situated at a distance of about 300 meters from my home. They were involved in arresting Polish civilians from around the area. Locked up in the hostel’s basements, the civilians were severely beaten. The Germans ordered them to dig deep pits in the woods in Skałka, in the trenches dating from before the First World War. In the morning, the prisoners were brought to the pits and in the evening the Germans shot them. Their bodies were left lying in the pits.
One morning, in the field near the woods, at a short distance from Skałka, I came across a woman and her little child shot by the Germans.
Initially the people weren’t buried, but then the Germans buried them themselves. Finally the village administrator was ordered to designate locals to bury the dead, which the latter did.
In Skałka, the Germans murdered about 300 people.
