IRENA FROST

Volunteer Irena Frost, born on 18 April 1925, a student.

On 22 September 1941, my parents and I were deported from Pińsk to the Altai Krai, to Wysoki Bór.

We lived in barracks, in tolerable hygienic conditions. I worked in the woods felling trees. Because I was unable to fill the work quota, I received only 300 grams of bread. The authorities were very hostile towards us. There was no medical care at all.

After the amnesty, we were taken to a kolkhoz. The conditions in the kolkhoz were very harsh. We were required to dig trenches and pick cotton. My parents, Antoni and Stanisława Frost, died there, and so did Teofila Pawluczenko.

I joined the army in Kermine.
