MARIA KAPUŚCIŃSKA

Volunteer Maria Kapuścińska, born on 20 October 1924, Krzemieniec district, Wiśniowiec post office, Dźwiniacze village, unmarried.

I was deported with my entire family; my father was a ranger. We were deported on 10 February 1940 to Molotov Oblast, Kizelovsky region, Stepanovka hamlet. I worked with my whole family in the forest. We worked hard and under compulsion. All the families lived in the hamlet: there were 75 of them. A lot of people starved to death, because those who didn’t work weren’t able to support themselves.

In 1942, following our release, we went to Uzbekistan. On 1 April I joined the Women’s Auxiliary Service in Margilan. On 20 April we left for Guzar, where I underwent a six-week unitary training. When I had completed the training, I worked in the hospital as a paramedic. Later on I came to Kizil-Rabat, and now I work as a paramedic.
