STANISŁAW KOŁODZIEJCZYK

In Białaczów on this day, 18 September 1948, at 12.15 p.m., functionary H. Górczyński from the Citizens’ Militia Station in Białaczów, with the participation of reporter Jerzy Galant, heard the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 140 of the Penal Code, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Stanisław Kołodziejczyk
Parents’ names Antoni and Rozalia
Age 34 years old
Place of birth Skronina, Białaczów commune
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Occupation farmer
Place of residence Skronina, Białaczów commune
Relationship to the parties none

On the morning of 15 March 1943, during the pacification of Skronina and the surrounding villages, the Gestapo and the gendarmerie brought a few people to the house of Stanisław Serwatka in Skronina. They led these people into the flat, where they shot each and every person present, including the family of Serwatka, and then set the house on fire, burning these innocent people almost alive. I am not sure, but there were at least 18 people, if not more. The murder was perpetrated by the gendarmes and Gestapo from Końskie.

On the same day, the gendarmes killed Antoni Szymczyk, Władysław Szymczyk and Jan Kowalski.

The following people were burnt at Serwatka’s:

1) Józefa Chajda 2) Marianna Chajda (daughter), 3) Helena Serwatka, 4) daughter Danuta, 5) son Józef, 6) son Zbigniew, son Mieczysław, 7) Leon Cozac, 8) Feliks Kalinowski – these people came from the village of Skronina, Białaczów commune, Opoczno district. I don’t know the surnames of people from other villages who were also burnt in that house.

I would like to add that in the winter of 1943, in December, Mieczysław Serwatka was killed in a field, and the following people were taken to a concentration camp (from where they never returned):

1) Władysław Mijas, about 40 years old, railwayman, 2) Józef Mijas, 3) St. Jach (but these two came back from the camp).

When Serwatka’s flat was burning and people were screaming in the fire, a gendarme threw a few grenades into the flat and then the screaming ceased.

This is everything I know in the case.

At this the report was concluded, read out and signed.
