In Wielgomłyny on this day, 19 September 1948, at 2.00 p.m., functionary Mariusz Bijak from the Citizen’s Militia Station in Wielgomłyny, with the participation of reporter Józef Maj, heard the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 140 of the Penal Code, the witness testified as follows:
Name and surname | Leon Służalec |
Parents’ names | Jan and Agnieszka |
Age | 46 years old |
Place of birth | Opatów |
Religious affiliation | Roman Catholic |
Occupation | farmer |
Place of residence | Borowiec, Wielgomłyny commune, Radomsko district |
In August 1943 (I don’t remember the exact date) I was at home in the village of Borowiec. One night I heard shooting from the direction of Krzętów village. On the next day I was taking my sheep to the field. At one point I was stopped by the Germans, who asked me whether I had seen anyone in the forest. I replied that I hadn’t. Although I didn’t ask, the Germans told me that they had already killed three people, but the rest had escaped to the forest. I wanted to go and see who had been killed, but the Germans didn’t allow me to get close enough to recognize the victims.
I would like to clarify that these people who had been killed lay dead in the field near the village of Krzętów.
Next the Germans notified the local people and ordered that these men be buried. The locals wanted to make coffins and bury the above-mentioned men in them, but the Germans didn’t want to agree to that.
I would like to add that the above-mentioned men were buried in the forest by Rudka village, Wielgomłyny commune.
I have testified to all I know.
At this point the report was concluded, read out and signed.
