PIOTR SIKORSKI

On 11 December 1945, in Radom, Kazimierz Borys, Investigating Judge from the Second District of the District Court in Radom, based in Radom, interviewed the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Piotr Sikorski
Age 46 years old
Names of parents Jan and Maria
Place of residence Radom, Idalin, Matejki Street 4
Occupation cashier at the Arms Factory
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Criminal record none
Relationship to the parties none

At the end of September 1942, my brother, Jan Sikorski, born in 1903 (I don’t know the exact date) was arrested by the Germans at his workplace at the Arms Factory in Radom.

On 15 October he was executed by the Germans on the gallows set up by the Warsaw road in Radom.

I wasn’t present at the execution. I arrived at the execution site a few hours after the convicts had been killed. Among those hanging from the gallows I recognized my brother, Jan. He was hanging third from the right.

I learned from my mother, Maria Sikorska, resident of Rajec, that the bodies were taken in the direction of Firlej. I don’t know why my brother was arrested. My mother is seventy years old and she couldn’t report for this interview both because of her age and because of her poor health. Besides, she wasn’t present at the execution. She only witnessed the removal of the bodies from the gallows.

The reasons for my brother’s arrest remain unknown to me. I didn’t see the notice posted on the board set up next to the gallows.

After my brother’s death, Gestapo men came to his wife Janina (she lives in Radom at Graniczna Street 9) and told her that her husband, and my brother, had been executed for murdering a German while travelling on a train. This was clearly a lie because my brother never travelled by train.

Having been shown a photograph of the people executed by the Warsaw road in Radom, the witness testified as follows:

I recognize my brother. He is third from the left.

The report was read out.
