WERONIKA PLASKURA

On 26 September 1947 in Oświęcim, the investigating judge of the District Court in Wadowice, the Municipal Court in Oświęcim, with Judge Jan Janowski presiding, and with the participation of reporter Jan Zembaty, interviewed the person mentioned hereunder as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Weronika Plaskura
Age 23
Parents’ names Walenty and Maria
Place of residence Oświęcim Osiedle
Occupation stay-at-home wife
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Criminal record none
Relationship to the parties none

The witness testifies without oath: as far as Hans Aumeier is concerned, I can say that he was a Lagerführer [head of the camp]. I worked in the Arbeitseinsatz [labor deployment office] where he would come when necessary. He was hostile towards the office workers, but he would not beat them without any reason. There were 15 of us working in that office and we tried to behave in such a way as to not give him any reason to beat us.

I heard that he treated other prisoners really badly and he beat them.

August Reimond Bogusch was a clerk in the Arbeitseinsatz. As a German, he was hostile towards us and he almost did not speak with us. He looked down on us. I never heard about him beating prisoners. This defendant had no contact with other prisoners outside the office and the service.

Max Grabner was the head of the political department. Apart from this, there is nothing else I can say about him. I met the defendant in the office and I do not have more information about him.

Heinrich Josten was the Luftschutzleiter, namely the head of the fire brigade. I met the defendant only in the office. Apart from this, I have no information about him.

Artur Liebehenschel was the commandant of the Auschwitz camp at the end of 1943 and at the beginning of 1944, after Höß. The only thing I know is that life in the camp was better during his tenure than under Höß. I do not know if he beat people.

Maria Mandl and Kurt Hugo Müller – The only thing I can say is that they both worked in the camp. Maria Mandl was a guard and commandant, while Kurt Hugo Müller was an Arbeitsdienstführer.

As far as Gertrude Anne Złotos is concerned, I can say that she was a guard. She yelled a lot, but she did no harm to anyone.

Apart from this, there is nothing more I can say.
