I have been interrogated in the case of Otto Lätsch at a German police station in Brunswick on 11 June 1946. My testimony, which I had made there and then in German and which has now been read out to me, is true to fact in its entirety and I fully uphold it now that I testify under oath.
My testimony doesn’t comprise the entirety of atrocities committed by Lätsch against us, I have only given the most telling examples.
As regards the current explanations of Lätsch which have been read out to me, I state as follows:
Lätsch knows me very well as a Vorarbeiter [foreman] and I’m sure that when confronted with me, he would remember me and thus be reminded of all the atrocities that he had perpetrated. I state firmly that during my stay in Gliwice, Lätsch served for three months as Lagerführer in our camp (more or less from August to October) and generally all his feats date back to this period of time. In October 1944, a German by the name of Grobert was appointed the Lagerführer of our camp. It was only then that Lätsch became Rapportführer.
Grobert was completely different than Lätsch, and the camp could breathe a sigh of relief so to speak.
Grobert never hit anyone, he forbade beating and torturing both in the camp and outside its premises, and our food finally changed for the better.
At this I conclude my testimony.
