On 24 September 1947 in Lublin, Judge of the Court of Appeal in Lublin and member of the Lublin District Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes in Poland, Stanisław Dziewulski, pursuant to article 4 of the decree of 10 November 1945 (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland No. 51, item 293), and pursuant to article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, heard the person named below as a witness, who testified as follows:

sabotage – from 17 March 1943 to 5 April 1944. I was in field IV.
I didn’t know the SS guard Döring. However, I knew Muhsfeldt, the head of the crematorium, and Thumann, the commandant of all camp areas and the Political Department. They both abused the prisoners and exterminated them to the best of their abilities.
Muhsfeldt once beat me severely for no reason. He punched me down, pinned me with his knees and knocked out three teeth. Thumann also once beat me during an inspection of the prisoners returning from work when he was searching for items of food. He then beat up the entire kommando. Thumann was constantly in the fields and every day you could see him beating prisoners for no reason. Muhsfeldt wasn’t there very often because he was in the crematorium. Muhsfeldt and Thumann were sadists in the full sense of the word.
Of the SS men I can name Becker, Schütler and Probst, whom I encountered in the camp while at work. All three of them used to beat the prisoners and mistreat them. As for the kapos, I remember Lortz – a German – and Lipinski from field IV. They both beat the prisoners for any reason, which I was very often personally witnessed. Lortz beat me once for walking to work too slowly. In addition, he took away any food he found on the prisoners.
As far as I remember, the garden manager in the camp was Unterscharführer Döring, about 35 years old, tall, stocky, blond, balding, but I can’t say anything bad about him because I didn’t see him beating or mistreating the prisoners and I didn’t hear of any such incidents from any other prisoners. What Döring’s first name was, I don’t know.
