16 April 1944.

2. Type of execution (shooting, hanging, etc.):

16 men were placed in a row and shot.

3. Personal data of the murdered victims:

Poles, Jews, foreigners: Poles.

Number of murdered victims: 16 men.

The victims were brought in from: the prison in Kielce.

Surnames, ages, professions/occupations, addresses: –

4. Is it known what the victims were accused of, whether the execution was carried out in retaliation, etc.?

The execution was carried out in retaliation for an action of partisans from Śladków, who killed a gendarmerie lieutenant and one other gendarme from Chmielnik and abducted policemen who had surrounded them with the aim of killing them.

5. Who carried out the execution (gendarmes, Gestapo men, SS men, policemen, the Wehrmacht)?

Gendarmes from the station in Chmielnik.

6. Are the surnames of the perpetrators known (provide the surnames if known)?

The victims were shot by gendarmes – Germans from Kielce.

7. Were the corpses burnt or destroyed otherwise?

The corpses were buried in a common grave at the cemetery in Piotrowice, Maleszowa commune.

8. Where were the corpses buried (provide the exact location)?

The cemetery in Piotrowice.

9. Description of the place of burial (graves, dimensions, estimated number of victims buried in one grave):

A common grave, eight by two meters large, containing 15 bodies. One of the men was shot and fell, but when the gendarmes went away he crawled out and attempted escape. However, the gendarmes noticed that and killed him. He was buried by the road to Grabowiec.

10. Were the corpses exhumed, were they officially reinterred (report)? If “yes” to the latter, then where?

The corpses were taken by the families.

11. Are there any grounds for conducting their exhumation in the future?

No.

On 24 September 1945, the contents of the above questionnaire were officially confirmed by the head of Maleszowa commune, Adam Raduszewski, with the Municipal Court in Chmielnik.
