REGINA GARBACZ

On 29 October 1947, in Końskie, Sędzisław Dębniak, a member of the Końskie Branch of the Radom District Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes, interviewed the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Regina Garbacz
Age 25
Parents’ names Teofil and Józefa
Place of residence Komaszyce, Gowarczów commune
Occupation housewife
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Criminal record none

I live near the Szarfas, in Komaszyce, Gowarczów commune. On 31 December 1943, at dawn, gendarmes entered my house and commanded me to lead them to the house of the Szarfa family. Forced, I went near the Szarfas’ house and then the Germans told me to run away. A moment later, I heard numerous gunshots; as it later turned out, brothers Lucjan and Eugeniusz Szarfa were killed. The gendarmes didn’t go inside the Szarfas’ house – they shot blindly through the windows.

At this point, the report was concluded and signed.
