The witness interview report [was] drawn up in Odrowąż commune, Końskie district, by the Skarżysko-Kamienna Branch of the Radom District Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes, represented by a member of the Commission, defense attorney Wawrzyniec Ergietowski. Having been advised of the [criminal] liability for making false declarations, the unsworn witness testified as follows:
Name and surname | Stanisław Grzela, son of Stefan |
Occupation | farmer |
Place of residence | Płaczków, Odrowąż commune |
In the village of Płaczków, manhunts were carried out from time to time in order to capture men; about a hundred of them were sent first to the camp in Częstochowa, and then to Germany to do forced labor. Most of the arrested men returned, one of them with a mental disease, but I am unable to specify what kind of disease that was. There were no strongly aggressive arrests carried out by the Germans in the village of Płaczków.
I also remember the burning of the houses belonging to Władysław Janas and Andrzej Dobrowolski’s heirs in the village of Pięty, Odrowąż commune, in the beginning of February 1944, but I don’t remember the details. These can be provided by Stanisława Stankiewicz, Leon’s wife, from the village of Pięty, Odrowąż commune.
I have said everything. I read out the report.
