EUGENIA STRZELEC

Volunteer Eugenia Strzelec, born 25 September 1921 in Pokropiwna Tarnopolskie Voivodeship, married.
Deported to the USSR on 10 February 1940 together with her family.

We lived in the barracks in Molotov Oblast, Jurlenkij [Jurlenkiy] district settlement of Kusjanov.

I worked with my husband in the forest. The pay we received was very little. If it had not been for selling the last things we owned, we would not have had enough money to buy food. Arriving late to work and not turning up for work meant that they punished you or did not give you bread.

Medical care was available, but they did not recognize the existence of diseases. Only when someone was running a high fever and couldn’t stand on their feet, would they be considered sick.

I was released on 25 August 1941. In March of 1942, I left this settlement with my husband and on the first run and we arrived in Tehran. In June, I joined the Women’s Auxiliary Service, whereas my family remained in Russia.

Place of stay, 10 March 1943.
