On 17 October 1947, in Końskie, lawyer Stanisław Dębniak, member of the District Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes in Radom with its headquarters in Końskie, heard the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

During the war, I was a cleaner at the elementary school in Końskie, next to the district hospital, where the German penal expedition was stationed. I don’t remember the date, but it happened in the spring. In the meantime, I noticed that the Świerczyńskis and other arrested people were being kept at the school. In the evening, when I was leaving work to go home, I saw the Germans driving the Świerczyński family towards a pit dug in the yard. First, they led the men to it, i.e., the Świerczyński sons and some strangers. One of the Świerczyńskis wanted to escape over the fence, but the Germans shot him. The Germans shot each of the arrested people in the back of the head. They undressed those killed and threw the bodies into the pit, then covered it with lime [a chemical mixture]. After murdering the men, they led out the women. I heard Maria Świerczyńska shouting, among others: “May God punish you for murdering us like this.” I watched this scene from behind the fence. I don’t know the surnames of the Germans who took part in the murder. I also don’t know the reason why the Świerczyńskis were arrested.

The report was read out.
