On 10 January 1969 in Warsaw, the assistant prosecutor for the District Prosecutor’s Office for Warsaw-Żoliborz heard the person named below as a witness, without an oath. After informing the witness about the criminal liability for false testimony, the witness testified as follows:
Name and surname | Stanisław Galas |
Age | 85 |
Parents’ names | Marianna, Bartłomiej |
Place of residence | Warszawa, Krasińskiego Street 20, flat 203 |
Occupation | retired |
Criminal record | none |
Relation to the parties | none |
For about 60 years I lived in the so-called Piaski [Sands]—that is, at Gąbińska Street 9. I currently live on Krasińskiego Street.
I know that during the occupation Stanisława Konczewska and her 20-year-old son were shot in their apartment. People said that Romanowski, who collaborated with the Germans, had given them up to the Gestapo. I didn’t hear about any other executions.
During the Uprising I stayed in this area until 20 August 1944. There was no insurgent combat there. Apparently, only partisans passed [to and] from the forests by night. I personally didn’t see anything and I can’t say anything on this topic.
I heard that some skulls were dug up on the Burzycka estate, but I didn’t see it. I can’t explain where they came from. I didn’t hear about anyone from the local population being shot or buried in this area.
The report was read out.
