On the day, or rather on the night of 3-4 April 1944, the Gestapo from Jasło, joined by the Blue Policemen from Szerzyny, came to our house at Czermna 76 and arrested my father Andrzej Garbuliński – son of Jan, born on 25 November 1891 in Czermna – and his son Władysław Garbuliński, son of Andrzej and Zofia, born on 12 December 1922.
Our neighbor Stanisław Owca was arrested along with them for aiding Jews, namely an elderly lady (whose name and surname I don’t recall) and her children: daughter Anna and son Majer. They were shot in our yard, while her son Majer managed to escape and reached about a kilometer before he was shot during the pursuit. They were then buried next to our barn. After the war, the corpses were claimed by the Jewish community and buried in a Jewish cemetery.
My father, brother, and our neighbor were taken by the Gestapo to the prison in Jasło. Two weeks later there were death notices put up announcing that they had been sentenced to death. They were most likely shot in the forest in Warzyce village.
