On 10 February 1940, Polana, Krzemieniec district.

Forest, barracks. One family for one room. Lice, no underwear.

Poles (the majority), two Ruthenian families. Intelligentsia, good moral standard.

5. Life in the camp, prison:

Work from dawn till night in the cold, high quotas. Bad nutrition (oats). No clothes. Cohabitation existed.

6. Conduct of the NKVD towards the Poles:

NKVD—financial penalties and lock-ups. No information about Poland, on the side of the authorities—negative.

7. Medical assistance, hospitals, mortality rate:

Poor medical assistance. High mortality. The following died: Pluta, Władysława Łuszcz from Wiśniowiec.

8. Was there any communication with homeland and family? If so, how was it?

There was some communication.

9. When were you released and how did you join the army?

On 15 September 1941, by boat along the Vychegda river to Kotlas, from there to the Oshesk [?] Oblast, from there to the army recruitment committee in Gorchakov.
