My memory of the German occupation

On 12 July 1943, my dad took me to town. When we arrived in Pachole, we saw a car leaving. When I saw the car, I got so scared, I went pale, like the lightest clay. The Germans came closer and shouted at us to stop. When we stopped, they jumped out of their car like dogs. I saw right away that they were going to take dad away. When they took him, I hoped that the partisans would crash into the car and let daddy go. They took daddy to Zaliszcze and ordered me to follow them. When I followed them, I was so scared that I was unable to sit still, I just had to sit still [run away?].
