My wartime experiences

The war started in 1939. During the war, we went through thick and thin. I lived in a colony near the town of Domaczewo. When the army was passing through the town, I went to see the soldiers. I was scared at the sight of the cars and tanks passing by.

When the Germans attacked Russia, the noise made by all the projectiles was terrible. We were sitting in the trench; we could not get out because of all the bullets in the air. We stayed there until the hail of bullets stopped. The Germans stationed in Domaczewo. There was no Polish school anywhere, so I studied at home.

When the Germans came back after their defeat, they destroyed everything. They wanted to get us all, but we hid in the woods. The Germans took four of our cows.

They were defeated. The war ended in 1944. When the Poles were leaving for the Bug River, we came here. Now we live in Krzywowólka.
