My most important wartime experience
In the morning on one Sunday in July, I went out on the road and I noticed that it was packed with German cars. Suddenly, there was a commotion in the village. People were running away with all their belongings, taking their families into the woods. There were partisans in the forest and the Germans were fighting them. Near the forest, the Germans were burning cars. Then, the Germans started shooting the Soviet troops. Then, Soviet tanks came and started shooting at the Germans. When the Germans ran away, they burned the tanks and set houses on fire.
