Wisznice, 19 June 1946
My most important wartime experience
It was [in] 1943. The gendarmes from Biała brought 30 hostages to Wisznice. On [that] day, the gendarmes surrounded Wisznice and rounded up all the older people. After that, they walked around all the houses and had all the people gathered in the marketplace. After a few minutes they took the hostages [that they had brought in] their cars and shot them dead, ten by ten, all 30 of them. After doing that, they ordered people to go home. Then, the gendarmes [had] three horse-drawn carts arranged, they loaded [the corpses] on the carts, took them from Wisznice and buried them. [In] 1945 some people came to take their [loved ones] from the [graves].
