My wartime experiences
In 1944, the war broke out. The Soviet army arrived by the end of July 1944, and when they advanced on our village, we ran away into the woods. The worst battle was on Sunday. All of us were sitting in a ditch. When night came, it was raining and we had to sit in the ditch, because bullets were flying in our direction. The battle lasted two days, and on the third day it was over.
