My wartime experiences
On 22 July 1944, at 2 p.m., cannons started to bombard our village of Makoszka from the direction of the train station, but nobody was hurt. After a while a plane came and started to shoot at the buildings. The whole village was consumed by fire and smoke. The next morning, a few planes bombed our village, destroying a couple of buildings. Then the Mongols [sic!] came. In a nearby village, Plebania Wola, they started burning down [the buildings] and arresting [people]. More than twenty people were taken from these two villages. These are my experiences from the German occupation.
