My experience from the war
I remember that on the night of 15 June 1944 in Kamieniec there was a commotion in the street, something was going on, but no one knew what, for we were all afraid to look out into the street.
At dawn we learned that Polish teachers had been arrested. Among them were two of my female teachers. The children of the arrested parents had been waiting since daybreak at the gendarmerie building to give them something to eat.
At 10.00 a.m., two trucks drove up and the detainees were led to them in twos. The townspeople walked around distraught, for the Germans had said that the teachers would be taken for execution.
