What do the mass graves tell us?
When we look at the mass graves, we see the murdered Poles, the bones and their whole image. There are a lot of mass graves all over the country. The memory of mass graves has always existed and always will exist. We will never forget about them. Poles were killed by German executioners for being good Poles. Poles fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Poland. On All Souls’ Day, the scouts, the Polish Red Cross and all the schools brought a lot of lovely wreaths and various flowers; they decorated [the graves] as best they could and lit a lot of candles. Before All Souls’ Day people made beautiful bronze memorials commemorating the Poles who fought for our freedom, and on All Souls’ Day, they brought them to the mass graves.
