My most memorable moment from the German occupation
It was in June 1943. A group of partisans took over the entire area to attack an ammunition transport. They surrounded the station. We could soon hear machine gun shots, and even grenades exploding. The train stopped. Many Germans died in the gunfire. One of the soldiers was taken prisoner by the Germans. He couldn’t escape because he was badly shot. They didn’t learn anything from him anyway, because he died shortly after. In his final moments, he cried: “Long live Poland!” He died defending his country.
