What do the mass graves tell us?
There are many graves from the German occupation in our area. There are huge mass graves [in the forest] in Bór, [in the forest] in Brzask and on Góra Baranowska. There are also smaller and unmarked burial sites: ditches, pits and rubbish dumps sanctified by martyrs’ blood. Many heroes were buried half-alive in dark clay pits. These places are sacred. These graves tell us about a great love of homeland. Risking their own lives and the lives of their families, [these men] fought for freedom, even though their mothers or children could be killed in revenge. Only Poles could die such a heroic death. I lived to see the day when I could erect a grave together with other children.
Hail to the Polish heroes!
